Academic & Living Environment

The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill is the flagship of a statewide system of 16 state-supported, four year institutions. UNC-CH has a student population of approximately 25,000, of whom about 5,500 are graduate students. The campus is located in Chapel Hill (a town of 50,000 residents), which is near Raleigh, Durham and Research Triangle Park, a business park with more than 50 research, high technology and government organizations.

The three-county region has a combined population of approximately 620,000, and the UNC School of Dentistry has close affiliation with many of its public and private hospitals and treatment centers.

Facilities at the School of Dentistry include four educational and clinical buildings, as well as the Dental Research Center. They are adjacent to the School of Medicine, UNC Hospitals and the UNC Health Sciences Library, which affords access to national data banks and numerous health sciences resources.

Additional information about the campus and community is located at the UNC Chapel Hill Visitor's Center.
