Clinic Photos Admissions Information
Applications are due no later than November 1 to be considered for the class that begins the following July. Participation in the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program is recommended for admission to our program. Application may be obtained by writing:
We encourage application through the PASS program. Our PASS application receipt deadline is October 19. Please obtain a PASS application by writing:
In addition to the PASS application, a UNC Hospitals Application for Residency Training and Authorization for Release of Information must be completed by each applicant and sent directly to the residency program director. The application can be printed from the UNC Healthcare website or a hardcopy can be requested by emailing the GPR program director, Dr. Lauren Patton. As an alternative to the PASS application service, candidates may apply directly to the program by submitting the following:
Acceptance requires graduation and receipt of a DDS or DMD degree from a US or Canadian dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Applicants must be final year students or graduates of US or Canadian Dental Schools and be eligible for a North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiner's Intern Permit or North Carolina Dental License. Unfortunately, new North Carolina dental licensure requirements for foreign-trained dentists, effective August 2002, creates credentialing concerns that cannot be addressed in a timely manner for enrollment of foreign-trained dentists in this clinical training program. The Resident Selection Committee considers all applicants for interview only when a complete application is received. This program does not observe "in-state" quotas. Competitive applicants selected for an interview in Chapel Hill will be contacted. The interview is a full day process and allows candidates to interact with current residents and faculty. Admission criteria are applied equally to all participants regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, or religion. The University and our program encourage minority student applications.
Each applicant must complete the background check questions and return them to the program director.
For additional information about the admissions process, please contact: Dr. Lauren Patton Phone: (919) 966-2792
