Clinic Attendance

A student is responsible for adequate clinic attendance in order to promote continuity of patient care and to complete clinical requirements in a timely manner. Acceptable clinic attendance levels are stated in the Patient Care Document distributed to each class. Clinic attendance, as well as patient care, is monitored; students missing clinic periods to the extent of not providing timely and adequate care for their patients are referred to the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Clinical Services for appropriate action.

All morning clinical periods begin at 10:00 a.m. and patients should be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Students who have classes ending at 9:50 a.m. should begin patient care as soon as practical after 10:00 a.m. Such students are not subject to sanctions if they begin patient care by 10:15. Students who do not have a scheduled class prior to a clinical period should be prepared to begin patient care at 10:00 a.m. Afternoon clinical periods begin at 2:00 p.m. and patients should be dismissed at 4:30 p.m.
