DDS Academic Program Policies
DDS Policy for National Boards Part 1 (Dent 227)
The requirements for students completing the National Boards Part 1 exam for
the doctor of dental surgery are as follows. This exam is logged as an official
course, Dent 227
- All students must be approved to take the exam by the DDS registrar.
- Students must complete the exam no earlier than December 10th of the 2nd
year DDS and no later than March 1st of the 2nd year DDS.
- If a student does not take the exam by March 1st of the 2nd year DDS, the
student will get an F grade in the course.
- All students who fail to take the National Board Part I exam by March 1st
of the 2nd year DDS, or fail the exam, will be reviewed by the APC committee
and a decision on the student’s academic standing and continuance in the DDS
program will be made by APC.
Any student who does not pass the National Boards Part I exam will not be allowed
to proceed to the 3rd Year DDS.
