Dr. Harald O. Heymann

The Department of Operative Dentistry at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill offers a three-year graduate program leading to a Certificate in Operative Dentistry and a Master of Science degree conferred by the Graduate School of the University of North Carolina. The primary objective of this program is to provide advanced Operative Dentistry training that will prepare graduates for careers in dental education. Graduates might also have the potential for other careers such as (1) clinical or technical research directors in companies with a dental emphasis, (2) consultants to dental corporations, insurance providers, public health policy organizations, professional dental societies, and philanthropic dental research or education funding agencies, and (3) researchers capable of garnering funding from federal, state, or private sources for research activities. The design of the program is consistent with the stated objectives in the AADS Curriculum Guidelines for Postdoctoral Operative Dentistry (J Dent Educ 1993; 57: 832-836).
