2008 ACDE Annual Meeting Is A Success
The 2008 ACDE Annual Meeting was held at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago on August 2-5. Attendees enjoyed the always popular Open Forum which allowed ACDE members to exchange ideas. Advances were made in the ACDE strategic planning initiative through small group sessions. Dr. Michael Santucci of the ADA CERP committee and Mary Borysewicz, manager of the ADA CERP program led the group in a discussion of hot topics related to CERP. Some members also enjoyed a tour of the ADA building, including the research laboratories, library and executive boardroom. Highlights of the annual meeting included workshops on negotiations, and presentations on integrating marketing & communications, customer service and social media. Marletta McKercher reported the results of the annual Trends in CDE survey. Janice Gibbs launched the new ACDE Speakers Bureau by distributing printed copies of contact information provided by folks that responded to our call for speakers. Officers were elected and installed. Melissa Welch of Columbia University joins the officer group as Secretary for 2008-09.

Mentoring Program Completes Its First Year
The new ACDE Mentoring Program successfully matched two pairs of member schools in 2007-2008. The ACDE mentoring program is a great experience that will expand the understanding of resources and opportunities that are available to members. It is a great way to learn skills that we will use for the rest of our careers! The ACDE Mentoring Program is designed to provide support to newcomers and those entering the University-based CDE field with an interest in learning from experienced CDE directors and staff. The message that this mentoring program conveys is that newcomers are important to the ACDE. It is a way to acclimate newcomers quickly and begin the membership networking process. If you would like to volunteer to be a mentor or for more information on the Mentoring Program contact Marie Baudek at baude001@umn.edu

ACDE Speakers Bureau Launched
The ACDE Speakers Bureau has been established to provide a comprehensive listing of CDE speakers and topics to allow ACDE members an easy way of sharing information about speakers and their topics. It also provides our dental school faculty and our invited guest speakers a forum to showcase their presentation topics. Printed copies of the new Speakers Bureau Listing were distributed at the 2008 ACDE Annual Meeting in Chicago. For more information on the ACDE Speaker Bureau contact Janice Gibbs at Gibbs@umdnj.edu
