PLEASE NOTE: All positions have moved to a new Career Banding compensation program. For additional information, please refer to our website at http://hr.unc.edu/Data/SPA/paysystems/careerbanding/. Specific competencies are required for the different banded levels and roles. This position is being recruited for at the Journey Competency Level under this Career Banding program. The hiring range for the $40,000 Level is $54,000. The salary grade equivalent for this position is 70.

Technical Knowledge: Ability to acquire knowledge of the unit quickly, organization and standard operational procedures for an ambulatory care facility including administering and monitoring IV sedation protocols on patient as well as sound knowledge of recovery of patients from all types of sedations.
Working Knowledge of the Pyxis system and the ability to track drug dispensing, statistical tracking of anesthesia for accreditation standards.
Consulting / Advising:Ability to provide feedback and guidance to staff in the department about patient care
Critical Thinking: Ability to implement nursing process to assess, plan implement and evaluate procedures and nursing protocol, anesthesia administration with limited supervision.
Client/Customer Service: Ability to work as a team player with all staff within both the Resident Clinic and OMFS Clinic. Ability to deliver services to patients and other health care professionals within and outside the department in a timely, methodical manner. Ability to assist patients of how to access required health care needs as it pertain to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Communication: Must be able to use communication techniques to assist patients in describing their symptoms and assist in discerning the situation in an organized manner. Ability to communicate information to patients and their families pre, during and post procedures in an easily descriptive manner in a succinct
Very Good Organizational skills,
Ability and desire to work as part of a team and share in the various tasks and responsibilities to make the clinical functions run efficiently
HIPPA
Good interpersonal skills required when working with patients and the OMFS staff/resident team.
Ability to provide quality patient interaction.
Ability to respond with empathy and understanding when communicating with patients.
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products such as MS Word, Excel.

Description:

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Of North Carolina Chapel Hill, School Of Dentistry has a fulltime faculty position in the clinical track available as assistant /associate professor, beginning immediately. The candidate must be American Board Certified/Qualified and should have fellowship training in Pediatric Craniofacial Surgery. The candidate is expected to maintain and develop a Pediatric Practice at the UNC Childrens Hospital. Other expectations include the teaching of dental students, medical students and residents. The candidate is also expected to participate in all departmental activities including call, coverage of medical emergencies in the School of Dentistry, participation in the dental faculty practice and clinical research.
