Admissions Information

APPLICATION DEADLINE

MATCH and PASS applications are due no later than September 15 to be considered for the class that begins the following July. Application to the Graduate School at the University of North Carolina is not required of graduates of U.S. dental schools until after the MATCH process is completed.

Applications to the Graduate School of the University of North Carolina is required of all graduates of foreign dental schools because TOEFL scores and financial disclosures are required by the Graduate School for all foreign dental graduates. The program application deadline is September 15 each year but this requires that all PASS application materials be on file with PASS by approximately September 3.

For your convenience we also participate in the PASS program. Application through PASS is required for admission to our program. Our PASS application deadline is September 15 each year. Please obtain a PASS application by writing:

Admission criteria are applied equally to all applicants regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, religion. The University and the Department encourage minority student applications.

BACKGROUND CHECK

Each applicant must complete the background check questions and return them to the program director.
 
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International applicants must submit official academic records bearing the signature of the registrar or another academic official and either a raised or ink stamp or seal of the issuing institution. Records must be issued in the original language and be accompanied by certified English translations.

International students are required to take the TOEFL exam, with a minimum total score of 550 and a minimum score of 50 in each section. The exam score must be current (less than two years old). When registering for the test, please indicate the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Graduate School (institution #5816) as a score recipient. The TOEFL test is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), CN6151, Princeton, New Jersey 08541-6151. You should take the test no later than October to ensure that your score arrives by the application deadline.

International students must submit a financial certification as part of the Graduate School application. A completed Financial Certificate outlining financial support available to you, along with original evidence to support the amounts indicated (bank statements, scholarship letters, etc.), must be submitted along with your application for admission.

You must send payment for the application fee ($75.00) in U.S. funds or international money order. This fee cannot be waived. Applications that arrive without the required fee will remain on file and unprocessed, pending receipt of the fee. The Graduate School will notify you that your application was received only after the fee has been paid and the application has been processed.
