Residents

Stephanie Blumenshine (DDS 2007) was born in Chicago and moved to Charlotte while in high school. She received her BS in biology and her DDS from UNC-CH, where she was one of only three students to graduate with “Distinction.” Stephanie already has a long list of leadership activities, research accomplishments and honors, including being a Fulbright Scholar. Stephanie is in her second year of training.

Shannitta Bridgers (DDS 2008) was born in Greenville, North Carolina and received both her undergraduate and dental degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Shannitta comes to us with an extensive list of leadership and volunteer experiences, along with a record of award winning research activities and strong academic achievements. Shannitta is in her first year of training.

Bob Cherry (DDS 2008) was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and received his BA and his dental degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Bob has conducted research with members of our department and was a volunteer at the Student Health Action Coalition, along with many other community and volunteer activities. Bob is in his first year of training.

Kimon Divaris is from Athens, Greece where he received his DDS from the Athens School of Dentistry in 2005. Kimon has served as the President of the European Dental Students' Association (EDSA) 2003-04 and has completed his native country’s required military service as an Army Dental Officer. In addition to the pediatric dentistry program, Kimon has also been accepted into the PhD program in oral epidemiology. Kimon is in his second year of training.

Jonelle Grant (DDS 2006) is a native of South Carolina who graduated from Duke University with a BA in Anthropology. She received her dental degree from UNC-CH. While in dental school, Jonelle was active in many professional organizations and involved in many leadership roles. Jonelle has organized and participated in numerous community outreach programs, providing treatment to children with limited access to care. Jonelle is currently in her third year of training.

Jina Kang was born in South Korea and received her BA from Furman University in South Carolina. She attended the Medical University of South Carolina and received her DMD in 2008. Jina’s academic achievements have been recognized both at Furman University and MUSC. She has taken part in multiple international mission trips and speaks four different languages. Jina is in her first year of training.

Bien Lai was born in Hong Kong and received her dental degree from the National University of Singapore. While in dental school Bien was the recipient of many honors and awards for both her academic and research accomplishments. Since receiving her degree, Bien has been practicing as a Dental Officer in the School Dental Health Service in Singapore. Bien is in her first year of training.

Elizabeth Kelly Miller (DDS 2007) is originally from Atlanta, Georgia but has a long history at UNC-CH. She received her BS in anthropology in 2000, her MS in accounting in 2002, and her DDS with “Distinction” in 2007. Elizabeth brings an extensive and varied research and public health record with her. She has also been the recipient of many honors, awards and scholarships. Elizabeth is in her second year of training.

Elizabeth Prada is a Michigan native who received a BA in Biology and Public Policy Studies at Duke University. Liz received her dental degree for the University of Pennsylvania where she was the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her academic accomplishments and her research interests. She has been involved in many community based health activities both while in college and in dental school. Liz is currently in her third year of training.

Jossein Shahangian, born in Iran, comes to us from California where he received his BA in biology from the University of California at Berkley and his DDS from UCLA in 2007. In addition to his teaching experience while in dental school, Jossein has extensive leadership training and experience including student government. He has also served as the Director of the Latino American Dental Services, a free children’s dental clinic. Jay is in his second year of training.

Raymond Tseng is a native of Michigan who received his BS in psychology from Ohio State University. In addition, he received his dental degree and his PhD in Oral Biology also from Ohio State University School of Dentistry. Ray has served in leadership roles in many professional societies and community activities and has been the recipient of many awards and honors. Ray is currently in his third year of training.
