Welcome

Dr. Lyndon Cooper, Chair, Dept. of Prosthodontics

The faculty, staff and graduate students of the UNC Department of Prosthodontics welcome you to our homepage. With nearly 44 million completely edentulous adults in the US, and with nearly 70% of the adult population over the age of 18 having one or multiple missing teeth, the Department of Prosthodontics enjoys as its primary teaching role the training of pre-doctoral and graduate residents to replace missing and damaged teeth. As one of only nine ADA recognized dental specialties, the Department of Prosthodontics has a nationally and internationally distinguished faculty. The faculty represent a large and diverse group committed to teaching, research, patient care and service. Collectively they provide more than 32% of the teaching effort for the DDS curriculum, are committed to two full time research laboratories, produce one of the largest patient care facilities in the School of Dentistry, and serve the North Carolina dental community by presenting numerous AHEC and continuing education programs. Be sure to click on the Hilton Head button on this page to find out more about our annual continuing education program on Hilton Head Island, SC. Additionally, click on the other buttons to find out more on how our Department is involved in all mission areas of the School and University.
