PRESS RELEASE: November 30, 2001

Dr. Lyndon Cooper, DDS, PhD

Dr. Lyndon Cooper presented "Optimization and Simplification of Implant Overdenture Treatment" along with Dr. David Burns of Richmond, VA on Friday, November 30 at the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics 47th Scientific Meeting. The meeting was held at The Plaza Hotel in New York City on November 30 & December 1, 2001. Dr. Martin Trope, Chair of UNC's Endodontics Department and Dr. David Felton, Chair of UNC's Prosthodontics Department also participated in the meeting.

Dr. David Felton

David Felton, DDS, MS, chair and associate professor of prosthodontics was installed as the president of the American College of Prosthodontists at their annual session in New Orleans on Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. His one-year term of service began immediately and will culminate in Orlando at next year's annual session. Felton graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry in 1977 and received a master's in prosthodontics in 1984. He has served on the school's faculty for 18 years and is graduate program director for prosthodontics as well as chair.

Dr. David Felton, ('84) presented a poster at the 9th Meeting of the International College of Prosthodontists in Sydney, Australia on October 18, 2001. His poster entitled "Mandibular Overdentures Supported by Two Non-splinted Implants Maintain Cortical Bone at 36 Months" is based on a 5-year research study of the Astra Tech implant system. David is Associate Professor and Chair of the UNC Department of Prosthodontics.
PRESS RELEASE: June 30, 2001

On Saturday, June 30th, Dr. Behnoush Rashedi received her Certificate in Prosthodontics and her Master's degree from the University of North Carolina. Dr. Rashedi will be joining the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Rashedi is the first student in several years to complete both the clinical portion of the program as well as the Master's degree research component within three years. Congratulations Dr. Rashedi!!!
PRESS RELEASE: April, 2001

Chapel Hill, NC - The 2001 Spurgeon Awards Banquet was held on April 3rd. Awards for teaching excellence, staff appreciation, clinical excellence and academic achievement were presented. The banquet was planned and sponsored by the Spurgeon Dental Society. The faculty members from the Department of Prosthodontics that attended this year were again awarded the "Best Dressed Department" award by their department chair, Dr. David Felton.
