Substantial independent and team research productivity and research funding submissions are expected. Teaching responsibilities include aspects of community dentistry/dental public health to pre-doctoral students and research design to graduate students. Administration and clinical practice will be assigned if appropriate. Well-developed, highly productive research skills are required and applicants records of independent research and publications should reflect their academic experience.
Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degrees, and a DDS/DMD is desirable. Rank and salary commensurate with training and experience.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to fill two full-time tenure, clinical track, or fixed term positions in the Department of Endodontics at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level. The Department of Endodontics in the UNC School of Dentistry is an integral part of the Chapel Hill campus and community and is imbedded with the Health Affairs Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health, and several prestigious research centers.
Candidates must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree and must have completed an advanced education program in Endodontics. Eligibility for or certification by the American Board of Endodontics is desirable. The successful candidate should be either a clinician with potential for clinical scholarly activity or a clinician-scientist with a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent). Candidates who can demonstrate a record of scholarly teaching, combined with either broad clinical experience and/or success in obtaining extramural support, are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities are in the undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. Participation in research and in the intramural dental faculty practice is expected. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and training.

The School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for the Chair, Department of Orthodontics. This full-time position is a tenured academic appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor commensurate with the candidates qualifications and experience. The Chair provides leadership and guidance for the Department of Orthodontics in achieving the Schools missions of education, research, patient care, and service. The department is responsible for the orthodontic curricula in both the pre-doctoral DDS and graduate-specialty programs.
Applicants must have a DDS or DMD degree (or equivalent) and advanced specialty training in Orthodontics. Board certification in orthodontics and a MS (or PhD) degree are preferred. Applicants must have had at least 5 years experience in dental education or research, and proven leadership abilities. Competitive candidates will have interests in an administrative career and a strong research background in an orthodontic-related field of study. Participation in funded research and/or the Orthodontic Dental Faculty Practice desired.

Position Summary: The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the TRYUMPH Research Program. They will be responsible for the management of multi-site longitudinal research studies and clinical trials, including coordination of data flow, database management, financial management, and preparation of IRB applications, regulatory reports, and research publications. They will also manage research personnel across multiple study sites.
Research program description: Individuals often develop chronic symptoms after traumatic events such as motor vehicle collision and sexual assault. Such persistent sequelae include pain and other somatic symptoms as well as posttraumatic stress disorder and depression. Despite their common occurrence, the risk factors and processes of disease development for these disorders remain poorly understood, and interventions to prevent these outcomes are currently limited. The TRYUMPH research program (TRYUMPH = Trauma Recovery, Understanding Mechanisms and Promoting Healing) focuses on performing studies examining genetic, physiologic, and psychological risk factors for adverse events after trauma, and on testing interventions to decrease adverse events after trauma. Current and past funding support for the research program comes from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and other sources.
Principal Functions, % Effort, and Description:
Study Coordination-60%-Overall management of multi-site research studies and clinical trials, including managing patient flow through studies (recruitment, follow-up, tracking systems), managing study-related finances and preparing expenditure reports, and assisting in the completion of all regulatory documents (e.g. IRB, grant annual reports). Must possess outstanding organizational, managerial, and interpersonal skills and be able to function independently at a high level.
Database management-10%-Supervise the work of data collectors, computer programmers, graduate research assistants and research assistants. Manage collection of surveys, data collection, data entry and analysis as needs of particular projects dictate.
Financial management-10%-Assist in buget preparation and manage clinical trial accounts. Responsible for funding renewal applications.
Scientific Writing-20%-Assisting in creation of scientific publications (manuscripts, abstracts) and presentations, including assisting in both manuscript writing and preparation of figures.
Education Requirements: The successful candidate must hold a Professional Degree or a Masters Degree.
Qualification & Experience Requirements: At least 1 year experience as Clinical Research Coordinator, including experience in managing personnel.
Approximate Salary Range- $45,000 - $75,000
