Two School of Dentistry Faculty Leave UNC for Dean Posts

Two School of Dentistry faculty members will leave this Fall to become deans at other dental schools. Ronald J. Hunt, associate dean of Academic Affairs, will head the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University at Richmond, Va. and Sharon P. Turner, associate dean of Administration and Planning and director of Faculty Practice, will travel west to lead the University of Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry in Portland, Ore. Hunt will assume his new position September 1 and Turner October 1.

Ronald J. HuntHunt was associate professor of dental ecology at the school from 1986-88. He returned to the school in 1990 as professor of dental ecology and was appointed assistant dean in 1992. He was promoted to associate dean last year.

Sharon P. TurnerTurner, a 1979 graduate of the school, joined the faculty, as assistant professor of diagnostic sciences in 1981. She became director of Patient Admissions and Emergency Services in 1986 and director of the Dental Faculty Practice in 1989. She was appointed assistant dean of administration and planning in 1994 and promoted to associate dean last year.
