Radiology Group Honors Grad Student
The Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry is pleased to announce that one of the third year graduate students, Murillo Abreu, has been named the recipient of the Howard R. Raper Award from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. This prestigious award is given annually to the graduate student in the US and Canada with the greatest promise in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and carries a cash award of $500.00.
Murillo was honored by the Academy at the AAOMR annual meeting in Sante Fe, New Mexico. At the same meeting he also received the Albert Richards Research Award. The award recognizes the highest quality master's thesis research of any student in oral and maxillofacial radiology in the U.S. This award came with a $500.00 grant to support the ongoing research project. The project involved an in-vitro investigation of human caries detection using tuned aperture computed tomography (TACT). The department is proud of Murillo and of his accomplishments and the way they bring honor to our program, the School of Dentistry, and the University.
