Bayne Elected President of AADR

Steve Bayne, professor and section head of biomaterials in the operative department will lead the American Association of Dental Research into the 21-century as president of the organization. Elected at the recent annual meeting in Vancouver, Bayne has been an active in the organization for the past eight years. AADR is one of the 20 divisions of the International association of Dental Research but more than 50 percent of its activity is within the AADR. During his one-year tenure, Bayne's major goals are to increase student participation, research dollars and the amount of research in general. He says there is a shortage of dental researchers. UNC School of Dentistry is one of the top three dental research schools in the country. At the same meeting Steven Offenbacher, professor of periodontology was elected president-elect.
