Molina Receives Teaching Award
Anthony L. Molina, assistant professor in the department of prosthodontics, at the School of Dentistry, received the school's most prestigious award the Richard F. Hunt Excellence in Predoctoral Teaching Award at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center. The award is given each year to recognize an outstanding educator who exhibits a command of the subject matter, an interest in students as individuals and an understanding of dentistry. Recipients are nominated and selected by students.
In making the presentation Dean John Stamm read quotes from students, "He gives us great insight into clinical fixed prosthodontics from the professor's point of view, yet can still relate to us as students and identify with our challenges and frustrations. He is genuinely concerned about both our clinical proficiency and personal well being."
Molina is a 1982 graduate of Duke and received his DDS degree and postgraduate training in prosthodontics at the UNC School of Dentistry. He served as a major in the United States Air Force Dental Corps from 1988 to 1995. Molina joined the department of prosthodontics in 1995.
The Hunt award was established through the Dental Foundation of North Carolina Inc. by the Loblolly Dental Study Club in 1969 as a memorial to Richard F. Hunt, a native of Rocky Mount. Hunt a 1955 graduate of the UNC School of Dentistry, died in a plane crash in 1968.
