School of Dentistry to Host International Conference

Ray Williams, professor and chair of periodontology, and Steven Offenbacher, professor of periodontology, announced that the school will host the 12th International Conference on Periodontal Research in May 2002. Established in 1969, the conference is the most prestigious periodontal meeting in the world. The meeting will bring 250-300 scholars and scientists from around the world to Chapel Hill. Recent meeting sites were Gothenburg, Sweden, Osaka, Japan and San Antonio, Texas. Williams says he is honored to host this distinguished event.
