CCID Advisory Board Meets

The External Advisory Board of the Comprehensive Center for Inflammatory Disorders (CCID) held its first meeting at the Carolina Inn on Friday, Dec. 10, 1999. UNC Chancellor William O. McCoy welcomed the board. The center represents an important next step in this area of dental health research and patient care. It was established at UNC resulting in research support of more than $20 million. The research will examine the relationship of oral diseases to other medical conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and the birth of premature low birth weight children. Patrick Flood is Director and James Beck is Co-Director of the Center; both are School of Dentistry faculty.
