Hershey Receives Iowa Dental Alumni Award

Garland Hershey, professor in the department of orthodontics at the UNC School of Dentistry and professor of health policy and health administration in the School of Public Health, recently received the 2000 Alumnus Award from the University of Iowa Alumni Association and the College of Dentistry. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, and his dental degree (1965) and a masters of science in orthodontics (1971) from Iowa College of Dentistry. Hershey joined the UNC School of Dentistry faculty in 1971. He also served as vice chancellor for health affairs and vice provost at UNC-Chapel Hill for a total of 14 years.
