UNC Dental Alumni Awards

The UNC Dental Alumni Association recognized three individuals at the school's 50th Anniversary celebration at the Best of Dentistry Dinner at the Carolina Inn, Nov. 18, 2000. Randy Fussell DDS, president of the association, presented the awards. In presenting the awards, Fussell said, "These individuals have served the School of Dentistry and the Dental Alumni Association with distinction and have worked tirelessly and unselfishly to support the school." James Cogleton III DDS, a pediatric dentist from New Bern, N.C received the distinguished service award for his contributions to the School of Dentistry and the UNC Dental Alumni Association. Ray White DDS, PhD, former dean of the School of Dentistry and former associate dean of the UNC School of Medicine, received the John C. Brauer Award that recognizes a lifetime of service to the school and the dental profession. Steven Bayne PhD, a professor and section head of biomaterials in operative dentistry, received an honorary alumni membership certificate.
