Jennifer Stallings is Alumni Scholar

Rex Card '80, presents Jennifer Stallings a check for $3,000.

Third year dental student Jennifer Stallings has been named the UNC Dental Alumni Association's Alumni Scholar for 2000. The $3,000 award is based on financial need, academic performance and an interview by the Alumni Scholarship Committee. Born in Fayetteville, N.C., she received an undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She received the Youth Volunteer Award for Cumberland County and the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. Her many activities included serving as a tutor for the Durham Scholars Program, working with the Adult Literacy program and providing dental services at the Orange County Health Department Dental Clinic. She is class secretary for the Class of 2000 and a third year teaching committee representative.

Keisha Reed was named runner-up and received a $1,000 award.

The UNC Dental Alumni Association started an endowment in 1999 to support the annual scholarship. The association will maintain the scholarship until the endowment grows to support the Scholarship Fund.
