Bader Will Participate in Conference at NIH
James Bader, DDS, MPH, research professor in the department of operative dentistry, will participate in a national conference at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on the life time diagnosis and management of dental caries, March 26-28. The conference brings together biomedical investigators, practice healthcare providers, consumers, and others to evaluate the scientific soundness of health or health related technology. A primary objective is to provide information regarding the safety and effectiveness of drugs, devices, and procedures. Bader will present the results of three systematic reviews by the RTI/UNC Evidence-Based Practice Center. "The reviews assess the strength of the evidence regarding the performance of methods for diagnosis of carious lesions, the efficacy of preventive methods for high caries-risk individuals, and the efficacy of methods for arresting or reversing early carious lesions," said Bader. The NIH Consensus Development Conference on Diagnosis and Management of Dental Caries Throughout Life is sponsored by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and the NIH Office of Medical Application of Research.
