Parents Phonathon January 25-26, 2002

Parents from the executive committee of the UNC Dental Parents will gather at the School of Dentistry Jan. 25-26, 2002 to participate in the annual phonathon. Parents will call other dental parents to ask for their contribution to the parents project that benefit students. The Dental Foundation of North Carolina Inc. has given the parents a fund-raising challenge this year. For every dollar that the parents donate, the Dental Foundation will match up to $10,000. The parents' program sponsors a student research fellowship and Parents Day annually as well as special projects.

Last year's special project was to start the refurbishing of the student lounge. Funds from the phonation and the matching contribution will support the annual projects and allow the refurbishing of the lounge. Arrangements have been made for the lounge furniture to be upholstered. Alice Lockhart from the Alumni Office reports that she expects the furniture to be picked-up any day.

Parents have already donated $4100. With the Dental Foundation's match, the parents have reached $8200 of their $20,000 goal. Any parent can be a member of the executive committee. For more information contact Alice Lockhart 919-966-4563.
