President of ADA and UNC-Chapel Hill Alumnus Greg Chadwick is Commencement
Speaker at School of Dentistry

School of Dentistry alumnus and president of the American Dental Association
Greg Chadwick, DDS, MS, will give the School of Dentistry Convocation
Address, May 19, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. at Carmichael Auditorium. Chadwick,
a three-time UNC-Chapel Hill graduate is an endodontist in Charlotte.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in business, he served as a Navy
Supply Corps officer. He received his DDS degree in 1974 and practiced
general dentistry before returning to the school to earn a master's in
endodontics in 1976. He was installed as its138th president at its annual
meeting in Kansas City, Mo. Oct. 17, 2001. Chadwick was a part-time clinical
professor faculty at the School of Dentistry for 18 years and served14
years as chair of the endodontic section at Carolinas Medical Center where
he continues to serve on faculty. He is a founding member of the Holiday
Dental Conference Foundation in Charlotte and is past president of the
North Carolina Dental Society, the NCDS Second District Dental Society,
and the Dental Foundation of North Carolina Inc. Chadwick is a diplomate
of the American Board of Endodontics and a member of the American Association
of Endodontists and Academy of General Dentistry. He is a fellow in the
American and International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry
International and the Pierre Fouchard Academy. Chadwick has served in
other leadership roles with the ADA including the ADA Board as 16th District
(North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina) trustee from 1996-2000. His
board responsibilities included: liaison with ADA Council on Communications,
Dental Benefits and Government Affairs, member of the Strategic Planning
Committee and the task force related to the ADA's Web site and chairman
of the Dental Information Technology Committee. He was president-elect
2000-01 and chaired the board committee that selected the ADA's new executive
director. Chadwick recently received the distinguished service from the
UNC Dental Alumni Association. A reception to honor the Class of 2002
will be held at the Alumni Garden at the School of Dentistry prior to
the commencement, from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m.
