School of Dentistry Volunteers for North Carolina Special Olympics

Twenty-three faculty, staff and students participated in the North Carolina Olympics Special Program at North Carolina State June 1, 2002. Special Olympic participants received medical care from various health care groups including dentistry and nutrition. Nancy St. Onge who organized dental school volunteers, reports that 1200 athletics from across the state participated in the annual event. The dental division provided 144 dental screenings and mouth guards for some of the athletes.
