Retired Faculty Member,
Don Warren,
Receives ASHA "Honors of the Association"
On
November 14, 2003, retired
School
of Dentistry
faculty member, Don Warren, received The Honors of the Association from the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The Honors of the Association
recognizes distinguished contribution to the field of speech, language, and
hearing and is the highest honor the Association can give.
Warren received this award in recognition of contributions deemed of such
excellence that they have altered the course of the professions. He and the
five other 2003 awardees are individuals who are well known throughout the
nation and the world and are recognized for a lifetime of innovative
clinical practice, insightful and rigorous research, creative
administration, effective legislative activity, outstanding teaching or
other distinguished professional contributions.
Warren was central in
founding the UNC Craniofacial Center and served as director from 1963 -
2000. The UNC Craniofacial Center has served thousands of patients and
provided instruction for hundreds of speech-language pathologists, dentists,
and surgeons.
