| Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) |

Provides comprehensive dental services to diagnose, treat and prevent
diseases of the teeth and gums. Resident dentists complete a thorough
examination, discuss available treatment options related to identified
concerns and develop treatment plans tailored to the needs and desires
of the patient. A few of the treatment services provided by dental resident
dentists include: tooth-colored restorations (fillings), tooth whitening
(bleaching), crowns, bridges, implants, partial dentures, full dentures,
and gum treatments. The AEGD clinic also has a full-time dental hygienist
to provide tooth cleaning services for patients.

Provides a variety of services that deal with the sequalla(e) of pulpal
and periapical disease. These include root canal therapy, apicoectomy,
vital pulp therapy, nonvital bleaching, intentional replantation, as well
as the management and prevention of dental trauma. Consulting and emergency
services are offered for endodontic problems.

| Department of Operative Dentistry |

Provides services in general dental care concentrating primarily in the practice
of conservative restorative dentistry. Graduate students also provide
services in conservative esthetic (cosmetic) dentistry, including procedures
such as tooth-colored restorations (fillings), bleaching, porcelain veneers
and other aspects of esthetic bonding.

Provides a broad scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery services including:
trauma, pathology (disease), craniofacial, reconstruction, surgery for
snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (nighttime breathing difficulties),
maxillofacial cosmetic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery including removal of impacted teeth and the placement of
implants, treatment of pain involving the temporomandibular
joint (the jaw joint) commonly known as TMJ, and facial pain.

Provides treatment to correct irregularities of the teeth and jaws and to improve the facial appearance. Comprehensive orthodontic services are available for children and adults, including surgical orthodontics.
| Department of Pediatric Dentistry |

Provides comprehensive dental care for children from infancy through adolescence. Services include:
- current preventive measures
- restoration of primary and young permanent teeth
- infant oral health
- management of traumatic injuries
- inhalation sedation (nitrous oxide)
- conscious sedation (oral medication)
- minor tooth movement appliances
- treatment for developmentally or mentally disabled patients
- treatment of medically compromised patients
- treatment under general anesthesia
- coverage for dental emergencies
Ms. Lewis can also assist parents in their efforts to locate dental care for their child in the family's local community.

Provides services that include the prevention and treatment of diseases of the gums and supporting tissues of the teeth; includes treatment of cosmetic problems such as gum recession and overgrowth; surgical placement of dental implants.
| Department of Prosthodontics |

Provides all types of services for replacement of one or more missing
teeth and edentulism. Comprehensive dental rehabilitation and contemporary
esthetic treatment is offered. This includes treatment involving complete
dentures and overdentures, removable partial dentures, dental implant
restorations, fixed partial dentures (bridges) and crowns. Also provides
restoration of fractured or worn teeth using crowns, porcelain (ceramic)
onlays/inlays and porcelain (ceramic veneers). One additional focus is
the treatment of maxillofacial defects by providing replacements for missing
noses, ears and other facial parts. Treatment is provided by faculty-supervised
dentists enrolled in a full-time, ADA-accredited, advanced training program
in Graduate Prosthodontics.
*New patients are accepted through referral of private practice dentists and other departments within the School of Dentistry only. The waiting list for Graduate Prosthodontic screening is approximately 18-24 months for fixed Prosthodontics (crowns, bridges, and implants) and 6-12 months for removable Prosthodontics (dentures and removable partial dentures.)
Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Group

Provides services in the radiographic investigation of the oral (mouth) and maxillofacial region including: sinuses, temporomandibular (jaw) joints, and related structures and the imaging of dental implant sites. Faculty accomplish this through the making and interpreting of radiographs (x-rays), tomograms (special x-rays taken as cross-sections) or CT scans (computer assisted x-ray images), offering consulting services and second opinions through interpretation of radiographs referred from other practitioners.
