Elective Credit
ENNEAD is a dental volunteer organization through which DDS students can receive elective credit as DENT 499-E. The ENNEAD “year” begins and ends in late April of each year. In order to receive 1 elective credit, you must participate in 3+ ENNEAD events within one ENNEAD year.
ONE of these events MUST be a non-clinical/patient care event. Thus, ONE must be chosen from our list of health fairs, mouthguard projects, etc. Possible combinations of ENNEAD events eligible for elective credit include:
2 MOM clinics + 1 health fair
2 MOM clinics + 1 mouthguard project credit*
1 MOM clinic + 2 health fairs
1 MOM clinic + 2 mouthguard project credits*
1 MOM clinic + 1 health fair + 1 mouthguard project credit*
3 health fairs
3 mouthguard project credits*
At the end of April of each year, the ENNEAD secretary tallies the event participation list and submits the names of those eligible for 499-E elective credit to the School of Dentistry Registrar. Please do not contact the Registrar regarding elective credit before contacting the ENNEAD secretary first.
*Mouthguard project credit is awarded as follows:
½ credit EACH for participation in the:
1. impression process
2. model pouring process
3. model trimming process
4. suck-down and mouthguard trimming process
In this manner, each mouthguard project is worth a total of 2 ENNEAD credits. We
encourage ENNEAD volunteers to take part in as many processes as possible during
a mouthguard project.
